Sir Kenneth Branagh Receives Royal Knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 12:10 AM

Kenneth Branagh--Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets--has received a royal honor from Queen Elizabeth II that deems him a knight! Although he is known in the Potter fandom as Professor Lockhart, Branagh is an acclaimed director (recently, Thor) and Shakespearean actor.

The recipients of the royal honors (knighthood, CBE, OBE, and MBE) are selected by civil servants after being nominated by the government and the public. Knights receive the title Sir.

Congratulations, Sir Kenneth Branagh! The Potter fandom couldn't be prouder!
