San Diego Comic-Con 2012 to Feature a Harry Potter Panel

Posted on June 27, 2012 at 12:20 AM

This July, the 2012 Comic-Con in San Diego will be featuring a Harry Potter panel! The panel will be a reflective panel that takes a look on how the Potter series has progressed in all aspects of the fandom since it all began 15 years ago with the publication of the first book. Not only will the panel be a reflection on the past, but will also provide insight into how the fandom might continue to progress in the future.

The panel includes:

Andrew Sims (Hypable)

Heidi Tandy (HPEF)

Alex Carpenter (the Remus Lupins wrock band)

Airemay (Fiction Alley)

Julia Thomas (International Quidditch Association)

The Hillywood Show girls

Jarrod Perkins (Gred & Forge & the Harry Potter Alliance)

The official description of the panel--themed "15 Years since Philosopher's Stone: The Harry Potter Fandom in 2012"--reads:

Seven books from J.K. Rowling – or ten, depending on how you count – plus hundreds of thousands of fanfics. Eight studio movies – plus dozens of popular fanfilms, musicals and songs. One theme park – but soon there’ll be three or more! An international museum exhibition – and piles of fan-made shirts, crafts, fanart, CDs and DVDs. An encyclopedic website – and fancons, fan-made wikis and history courses on the impact of the Harry Potter fandom. We’ll look back at 15 years of the Harry Potter fandom, and try to predict – better than Trelawney did! – where we go from here.

Sounds very exciting to us! Will you be there in July?
